Professional Wastewater Operators Committee

The Professional Wastewater Operators Committee addresses the concerns of the men and women whose primary work involves performing the hands-on tasks needed to operate, analyze, and maintain wastewater collection, treatment, and laboratory facilities. We’re dedicated to supporting the voices of our peers, sharing their concerns, and improving recognition for wastewater operators.

Operator Certification Working Group (OCWG)

The OCWG was established to ensure that certification program decisions are considered and there is a forum for discussion with stakeholders.  This forum provides stakeholders with an opportunity to raise issues as well as understand the Ministry’s program objectives and priorities. Under the terms of reference Association representatives are representing the interest of WEAO members and not their individual work places. With this in mind WEAO selects representatives from across the province.  Currently WEAO has four representatives on the working group.

William D. Hatfield Award

The Hatfield Award is presented to operators of wastewater treatment plants for outstanding performance and professionalism.

The award was established in honor of Dr. William D. Hatfield, Superintendent of the Decatur, Illinois Sanitary District, who was President of the Central States Sewage Works Association in 1944-45 and served as President of the Federation in 1958-59.

Look for nomination forms in a WEAO eBlast or click here  for more information.
